Yes it definitely is awful, but what kind of parents leave a little child all alone to go for dinner??

No ofcourse not. The one to blame is the person who did it OBVIOUSLY, I was just saying that little children should have their parents around, so maybe they should've have taken their little daughter to the restaurant aswell instead of leaving her behind all alone, defenseless against the cruel person who did this. I'm not blaming the parents, it's just that specially if I look on how protective my parents have always been and still are I know I would never have been in such a position as a little child and I therefor I find it -in a way- strange that these parents left their daughter so alone...
NOT BLAMING THE PARENTS

I have been deeply moved by the devastating news of little Madeleine's abduction

The parents must feel like their heart has been ripped out. They are so brave.
As for the critisicm, it was stupid of them to leave their children asleep in the apartment alone, but in no way would I call it child neglect like some of my friends & colleagues have. They made a mistake. They have to live with that for the rest of their lives. Little Madeleine has been taken by some BASTARD  that's what should be on people's minds  instead people in my circles at least ( I hope that's not the general view of the masses) keep going over how the parents are to blame.
If a time is ever going to be right to critisize their actions that night, now is NOT it. Give them some compassion not harsh judgements.

I agree with Anneline and DM. My second reaction after hearing the news was "how could anyone leave their children like that?" (after all, the legal age for babysitting is 14 .... so to have no babysitter at all .... ) But the parents are paying a heavy penalty for their mistake and no-one deserves that. Let's just hope Madaleine's found safely soon and that bastard gets locked up.

When I was a child my dad would send me to the bookies to stand outside & ask the punters to put the bet on .
On a hot day me & my friends would go to the park just wearing our swimming trunks.
How times have changed

soz for dragging this story up again. i had a longgoing row with a load of plebs on an oasis forum who just cracked sick jokes about it, forgetting the real perpertrator/s and the fact a small child is missing and just condemning the parents all the way (they naively believe all the media sensationalism). they can't tell a good mother from a bad mother just by how she looks, but the tabloids did and too many people it seems will believe anything they read.

i believe the parents just made an error of judgement and have already paid a high enough price (too high). if they were lying i very much doubt as devout catholics they would be able to look the pope in the eye as they did anyway.

i was also criticised heavily for donating towards the fund and buying wristbands, by more or less everyone. i also have a madeliene link on my personal music homepage (non-verve).

still seeing all the tabloids cashing in on their trivial stories and mis-accusations, and pictures of the apartment. how is that going to help find her and the real perpetrator/s?

seems you can't do right for doing wrong. but isn't it funny though that the ones who criticise where the fund money goes aren't the ones who donated towards it? if it helps to pay off their mortgage because of all the time off work they've had to have, i say fair enough. that's why people donate to help them in anyway they can.
